Resident Assistant

Makayta Cole

Makayta (she/her and they/them) is a coterm in Management Science and Engineering. She technically claims to be a proud resident of New Jersey but spent a significant portion of her childhood living in Sierra Leone, a small coastal country in West Africa where her family is from. During undergrad, Makayta studied International Relations and had the opportunity to study abroad in Paris and Florence (and knows a little bit of French and Italian). Beyond academics, she was also actively involved with the Stanford Jump Rope team, the Society for International Affairs at Stanford (SIAS), and has conducted research for the King Center of Global Development and the Immigration Policy Lab. Now, she works with the Office of Student Engagement to put on open mics, live music, and trivia at Coho and the Arbor. After completing her master's, she plans to pursue a career in technology and international development.

Makayta considers herself to be a bit all over the place when it comes to hobbies. She loves playing tennis and board games, crocheting, cooking and baking, fashion, amongst many other interests. Talk to her about research, going on solo trips abroad, upcycling clothes, and anything food-related! She’s super excited to meet and get to know everyone this year and urges everyone to say hi and strike up a conversation whenever they see her. You can most likely catch Makayta at the Textile Makerspace, the French/Italian language tables, in the Yost lounge, or hosting Trivia at the Arbor on Thursdays (which she hopes you’ll all come to)!
